We’ve all been there; you start blogging and are excited about getting traffic to your site, but it seems that no one is coming. We all need to understand how to get more traffic to our blogs and to get our business up and running on the web, you need more people reading your content and taking notice of what you have to offer. The following tips will help you do just that! Let’s get started!


Increase Your Google Search Rankings and Get Traffic


The best way to increase your search engine rankings is to post consistently. People searching Google want answers, and if they find that your page provides them, it will have a much better chance of being ranked on Google’s front page. Search engines like fresh content, which means you should update at least once a week. It may take several months before you can see any progress with rankings—or it could be several weeks; search engine optimization is notoriously unpredictable—but keep at it and eventually, you’ll see results.


Do a deep keyword research


Now that you’ve figured out which keywords will be most beneficial to your audience, you can begin doing keyword research. The goal here is twofold: Determine how many people are searching for terms similar to yours every month and determine how difficult it will be for you and your competitors to rank for these terms. This also gives you a good idea of how much effort (and/or money) will be required from you to take over that search result page.


Optimize your Main title, Heading, Meta Tag and URL slug


Title tags, meta descriptions, and URL slugs help search engines and users easily locate your page. Take some time optimizing these SEO elements. Make sure your title tag contains keywords and is 60 characters or less; otherwise, it will be cut off by most search engines when displayed in search results.


Meta descriptions should also contain one or two sentences of text (you can have up to 255 characters) that summarize what you’re trying to say on that page. Make sure each sentence has a call-to-action so users know what they can do on your page—like follow you on Twitter, like you on Facebook, or sign up for your email newsletter—when they click through from search results.


Make your blog more shareable on social media


Increase your social media traffic by providing valuable content people want to share. For your content to be shared on social media, it needs a headline that will resonate with your audience. Think about what your followers care about and look for ways you can give them more value. Post at optimal times: Try scheduling posts for when you know there are higher volumes of social media traffic. Sites like Buffer allow you to schedule posts in advance so you don’t have to worry about posting during low-traffic times of day or night and missing out on potential readers.


Connect With Other Bloggers


Even if you’re just starting, it never hurts to connect with other bloggers. You can cross-promote each other’s content and build a mutually beneficial relationship. If you don’t have connections, look for blogs in your niche that have a substantial following and reach out to them via email. Getting more traffic is only useful if it leads you closer to achieving your goals for your website. Pinterest is one of those sites that has been around for years but hasn’t always received as much attention as it deserves. And if those links are  Dofollow (i.e., links where both parties benefit), that’s OK too; as long as there is a good anchor text within those links, Google will understand and keep your page rank high so long as you have some good quality incoming links. Another way of getting better at blogging is by posting comments on other related blogs – just make sure you don’t spam or flame.


Watch out for duplicate content


Sometimes you can get double traffic from search engines when your site appears in different areas of their rankings. This can happen if you’re getting lots of links from other sites or social media, or if someone else has copied your content and created a page with it on their site.


When there are too many similar pages out there, search engines will try to weed out all but one source of each piece of information, so they won’t deliver traffic to multiple sources for that same piece of information. That’s why it is important not only to have your website but also to make sure there isn’t already a copy (or dozens) of your site available elsewhere online.


Go back through your older posts and update them


There are lots of different factors that go into how much traffic your website gets. But when it comes down to it, a big part of it is whether or not search engines—like Google and Bing—can easily find and index your content. That’s where search engine optimization (SEO) comes in.


SEO can help you improve your website so that it ranks higher in search results for certain keywords that are relevant to what you’re writing about. One example: if you run a travel site, then including words like vacation or honeymoon in your content may lead to more traffic from searches related to vacations and honeymoons than without them.

One of my favourite ways to get more traffic is by submitting guest posts. It’s a great way to showcase your work and reach a new audience. I always make sure that each guest post I write has a call-to-action in it, asking readers of my guest post (i.e., potential clients) to take action with me.


As soon as you’ve finished writing your first draft, go ahead and start looking for appropriate blogs/bloggers who would be interested in running your post on their site. Make sure you personalize each pitch, pointing out how your post will be relevant and helpful for their specific audience.

As for keywords, using them isn’t as important as using them wisely: For instance, if you have a post all about how to find car insurance with less money down, don’t just stick a bunch of related keywords into it — use them appropriately in context for readability.



Our readers already know that we’re big fans of inbound marketing, but if there is anyone way for traffic to your site, it’s providing amazing content.
